James "Jim" Aumaugher

October 18, 1955 — October 6, 2021

Brooksville, FL

AUMAUGHER, James "Jim" Age 65, of Brooksville, FL passed away October 6, 2021 at Oak Hill Hospital. Jim was raised in Flint, the son of Keith and Muriel (Pagel) Aumaugher. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1975 and moved to Florida in 1979. In Florida, he was a resident of the Brookridge Community and was often seen riding his bike, mowing lawns, or visiting with neighbors. Jim was an avid pro and college sports enthusiast and also enjoyed attending NASCAR races at Daytona and Indy.

In 2004, Jim was seriously injured in an auto accident that caused blindness and reduced his mobility (he was in rehab for over a year). He was also diagnosed with an aggressive melanoma cancer in 2016 but overcame it. Jim's positive attitude throughout his challenges was inspirational and humbling to those around him. He continued to enjoy life (especially if food was involved) while being bedridden for the last 4 years. Jim also had a phenomenal memory and would often share his memories as if they happened yesterday.

He is survived by brother Barry Aumaugher and sister-in-law Connie Cole of Davisburg, nephew Dr. Zachary Peacock (Dr. Carolyn Peacock), niece Dr. Elizabeth Peacock (Jake Rodrigue), and 3 great-nephews Greg & Trent Peacock and Finn Rodrigue. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Jolene Peacock and brother-in-law Greg Peacock.

The family wishes to especially thank Jim's special friends & family (Bruce Brugbacher, Susan Peacock, Dale Strobel, Dorothy Scavetti, Alicia Christine Hussain and others) who continued to call, pray, and/or care for Jim after he could no longer live at home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired & Blind Inc. (Lvib.Org).

A graveside service will be held 11 AM Monday, October 18, 2021 at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris, MI. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
