WOODARD, James C. -- Age 79, a resident of Durand, died Saturday, October 16, 2004 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Minister Mark S. Aites officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM; and Monday from 12-4 and 6-8 PM. Mr. Woodard was born April 10, 1925 in Fayette, Alabama. He moved to the Durand area many years ago from Alabama. He and Martha A. Fowler were married in 1943 in Mississippi. He retired from Chevrolet Manufacturing in 1988 after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and was a member of the Swartz Creek Church of Christ. Surviving are: wife, Martha; daughter, Paula Smith and husband James of Corunna; 2 sons, J.L. Woodard of Lennon, Gary Woodard and wife Barbara of Durand; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jane Lewis and husband James, Jewell Ann Sanders and husband Junior, Doris McKnight; 3 brothers, Franklin and wife Beatrice, Carl, and Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
