WASCHA, James Joseph - Age 74, of Grand Blanc, passed away May 6, 2021. A private funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 12, at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. James was born May 23, 1946, the son of Adolph and Mary (Burgess) Wascha. He graduated from Flint's St. Matthew's High School in 1964, and went on to attend the University of Michigan, graduating in 1968 with an undergraduate in Political Science. James was then accepted to Wayne State University's Law School, but shortly after was drafted into the United States Army. James made the best of his situation by taking advantage of the military's opportunities to travel to other countries. After being honorably discharged in 1970, James finished his graduate work at Wayne State University's Law School. He began working for the Genesee County Office of the Prosecutor. After sampling many areas of the law he ended up in personal injury forming the James J Wascha PC law firm. Jim was very active throughout his community and served on many law association boards. In addition he was a member of the board of trustees of McCree Theater, the SIRNA Methadone Clinic, and the Sloan Museum. He also served on the board of directors of HealthPlus of Michigan. After retirement, James was active in a pool league and made many new friends there. He spent his free time riding his Harley and planning trips to take on his Harley with his brother Tom. James had an extremely quick wit and made his wife and family laugh on a daily basis. His family was the most important thing in his life.
James is survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan; children, David (Beth) Wascha, Scott (Linda) Wascha, Stephanie Wascha (Steve Larson), David (Emily) Rittman, Ari (Maia) Rittman; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lily, Deacon, Clara, Archer & Dylan Rittman, Callum, Sophia and Ellie Wascha; siblings, Don Wascha, Delores Roat, Thomas (Joan) Wascha; brothers-in-law, Mike (Vicki) Winston, Dennis (Connie) Winston; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Jerry Wascha; sister-in-law, Cookie; brother-in-law, Al Arnold and brother-in-law Gary Roat.
