James Vlassis

VLASSIS, James Gerald - Age 78, of Linden, formerly of Brighton, died Monday July 7, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, July 11, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Pastor Lawrence Eckart officiating. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association. James was born May 26, 1930 in Saginaw, the son of Theodore and Erna (Lutz) Vlassis. James was a 1948 graduate of Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Sharon Vasold on October 13, 1956 in Saginaw. Mr. Vlassis was a lifetime member of the Golf Superintendent Association. Surviving are: wife, Sharon; children, Barry and Jayne Vlassis of Richlands, NC, Brian and Sue Vlassis of Fowlerville, Brad and Catherine Vlassis of Cincinnati, OH; seven granddaughters, a grandson and a great-granddaughter; sister, Vera Vlassis of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stanick of Flint.
