James William TORTORICE

TORTORICE, James William "Turtle" - Age 82, of Presque Isle and Flint, died Monday, February 7, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Jeff Martin officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Educational Foundation or the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Turtle was born November 25, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Anthony and Elva Mae (Lohr) Tortorice. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Peggy Joyce Dean December 19, 1948 in Tupelo, MS. Turtle retired from GM Chevrolet as a Tool and Die Maker after 42 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 659, the Grand Lake Sportsmen Club and the Clio American Legion. Surviving are: his wife of 62 years, Peggy; 4 children, Tony (Kay) Tortorice, Linda J. (Al Ross) Tortorice, Brenda L. Tortorice and William Wade (Tracey) Tortorice; 7 grandchildren, Joe (Kerri) Dunne, Brigitte Ross-Givin, Lisa (Kurt) Podschlne, Eric (Ellen) Cousineau, Matthew (Kristen Fillmore)Tortorice, Melissa (John) Plunkey and Nathan (Tara) Tortorice; 10 great grandchildren, Kayla, Blake, Zackery, Madison, Milo, Hunter, Bruce, Dylan, Caden and Kingston.
