James Toombs

TOOMBS, James Herbert -- Age 87, of Ortonville formerly of Davison died August 9, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday August 13 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Abe Garcia and Chaplain Dennis McNamara officiating. Interment at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held Wednesday 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the El Shaddai Assembly of God. James was born November 11, 1927 in Flint the son of Herbert and Nova (McCleskey) Toombs. He Graduated from Flint Northern High School, and from U of M with a bachelors degree. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He married Shirley Arlene Matthews in Escanaba on December 24, 1967. James was employed by the NKC Construction Company working as a Field Superintendent. He was a member of the VFW Davison, and a member of the Millwright Steelworkers Union Local 1102. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 5 children, Valerie (Norman) Nonn, Debbie (Jerry) Warington, Michael (Mary) Kigar, Grady (Emily) Toombs, Kelly (Monica) Toombs; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Toombs Jr; brother, Ronald Toombs. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
