SMILEY, James Campbell- Age 78, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at his residence. Â Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 9, 2008 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 6494 S. Belsay Road, Grand Blanc. Â Pastor Max Hayden officiating. Â Burial will take place 9:30 AM Tuesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Â Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6360 Fenton Road, Flint from 1-9 PM Sunday and at church from 10 AM until time of service Monday. Â Those desiring may make contributions to First Congregtional United Church of Christ or the Alzheimer's Association. Â Mr. Smiley was born December 18, 1929 in Flint, the son of Walter and Gladys Lorraine (Campbell) Smiley. Â He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Â He married Bernice Marie Poore June 27, 1964 in Flint. Â Mr. Smiley retired from Buick Motors after 48 1/2 years of service, and he was the I.D.S. Conference Vice President for 6 years. Â He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and the 70+ skiing club. Â He loved nature and roller skating. Â He was a great believer in continued education. Â Surviving are: wife Bernice; 3 children, Susan and husband Jeffrey Rabanus of Linden, Melinda Smiley of Grand Blanc, Richard and wife Jocelyn Smiley of Washington Twp; 2 special grandchildren, Ashleigh Smiley of Grand Blanc and Taylor Rabanus of Linden; 2 step grandchildren, Blossom and Samantha Metevier of Washington Twp; brother-in-law, Russell Crawford of Genesee; several nieces and nephews.
