James Smigiel

SMIGIEL, James Joseph - Age 73, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, May 24, 2019. Per Jim's wishes there will be no service at this time. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or a charity of your choice. James was born November 9, 1945 in Flint, the son of Louis A. and Mildred C. (Nugent) Smigiel. Jim was a 1963 graduate of St. Agnes Catholic High School. He retired in 2004 from GM as a machine repairman after 39 years of service. He was a proud member of AA celebrating his 33rd year of sobriety this past February. Jim was inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1963 St. Agnes Catholic High School Baseball team in December. He loved classic cars, Polish food and was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan. Surviving are: his daughter, Amber Smigiel of Washington D.C.; brother, Joseph Smigiel of Climax; sisters, Christina (Ken) Schuette of Grand Blanc and Caroline Smigiel of Flint; 3 nieces, Kendra Schuette of Grand Blanc, Katie Schuette of Burton, and Christina Watson of Flint; and many cousins.
