SIMOTA, James F. - age 77, of Fenton, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St. with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a scripture service will be held at 7 PM followed by a Knights of Columbus service. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Knights of Columbus, Fenton Council 7418. Mr. Simota was born September 4, 1939 in Detroit, the son of Laurence and Clara (Boettecher) Simota and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Carol Wylston on November 6, 1971 in Oakland County and they have resided in Fenton since 1976. Mr. Simota retired from Chrysler Transport as a truck driver in 1999 after 28 years of service. He was an active member in St. John the Evangelist Catholic church, volunteering with his wife on the funeral dinner committee and many activities within the parish. He was also a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus - Fenton Assembly 2031 and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus - Fenton Council 7418. Mr. Simota enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. Surviving are: wife, Carol; two sons, Greg Simota and wife, Debbie of Holly, Don Simota and wife, Gerri of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Elaine Kirkenmeier of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Sky, Lady, and Sophie.
