James Rule

RULE, James A. - Age 90, of Grand Blanc, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016. A committal service will be held 11:00AM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Those desiring may make contributions at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, towards the education fund for James's grandchildren and great- grandchild. Mr. Rule was born in England on July 4, 1925, the son of the late Arthur and Winifred (Rogers) Rule. He married Phyllis Hamblin on June 25, 1949 she preceded him in death in 2014. James proudly served his country in the Army during WWII, stationed in Europe. Mr. Rule was a math teacher at Grand Blanc High School for 41 years, he also taught at Mott Community College and U of M, Flint. James also coached golf at Grand Blanc High School for many years. He was a member of Burton V.F.W. Post 822 and Fenton Eagles 2460. Surviving are: daughter, Shelia Dirrim ; sons, Mike (Mary) Rule, and Jerry Rule all of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Bonnie (Donald) Griffin of Fenton, Amber (Josh) Young of Grand Rapids, Tony Rule of Hazel Park; great - granddaughter, Grace Griffin; sister Phyllis Atkinson of Virginia; many nieces and nephews.
