James Reid

REID, James John Field, age 70 of Burton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Genesys Health Park on Sunday, November 23, 2008. He was born in Clare, MI on November 11, 1938 and lived in the Flint area all his life where he graduated from St. Mary School in 1956. On October 6, 1962 he and Delores Holko were married in Flint. He was the owner of The Oliver Paint Mfg. Co. for 35 years and retired in 2007. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, a good book and a cold beer. He is survived by Cal and Mary Field, his wife Delores, 4 children: Lynnda Squires (Nathan), Darren Reid (Tracy), Allyn Reid (Danielle), Terry Reid (Alyson). There are 10 grandchildren; Amanda, Ryan, Jenny Lynn, Hunter, Paige, Jamie, Mary Kate, Mallory, Elliot and Scarlet; a great-grandson, Gage. Also surviving are 3 brothers; Glenn Palmer (Ardith), Tom Reid (Mary) and Don Reid (Beverly) along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Genevieve Reid and a great-grandson, Camdyn Squires. Cremation has taken place. A service celebrating his life will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. where the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until service. time. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer a memorial gift, may consider The Old Newsboys of Flint. Jim's family wants to extend a heartfelt thanks to friends and family that supported them through Jim's journey. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Genesys MICU unit for their wonderful care, and a special thanks to Dr. Kumar Manam.
