James "Jim" C. Reed - Age 75, of Swartz Creek, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on October 11, 2021. Despite the grief and heartache his loved ones are experiencing, the family chose to honor Jim by having a "Celebration of Life". Join the family in honoring him with a casual gathering, which will take place between the hours of 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel. Interment with Army Honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Rd. in Holly, at a later date.
Jim was born September 23, 1946 in Norfolk, VA. He was the son of Lyle and Alma (Kelley) Reed. He married his sweetheart, Louise A. (Stoppert) in beautiful Key West, FL, on December 5th, 2002. Jim graduated from Grand Blanc High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Jim graduated from Michigan State University in 1973 with a B.S. Degree in Business. He retired from General Motors as a Senior Buyer with over 40 years of dedicated, hard-working service.
Jim enjoyed many lakeside campfires with family, countless rounds of golf, softball with his buddies, card games for hours, and too many MSU games to count. His deep love for family was evident in how he always put them first. He showed up to the many games, concerts, and dance recitals for his grandchildren. Jim was always up for playing ball with the grandkids, joining in on a silly game, and those who know him well would agree he would never turn down a fun challenge. Whether it be a larger woodworking project or as simple as refilling a glass, it was evident that Jim had a servants heart and sought out opportunities to lend a helping hand.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Louise; his children: Rodney (Heather Crandall) Reed, Robert (Lori) Reed; Erin (Aaron) Boillat, and Ashley (Kurt) Van Dyken. He was the proud papa to his nine grandchildren: Juliana, Liam, Noah, Delaney, Rowan, Baker, Elouise, Brooks, and Breslin. Also, his sister, Joanne Cudd; brother, John C. Reed and many nieces and nephews as well.
Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Jerry Reed; his twin sister, Janette Kalbfleisch, and sister-in-law, Renee Reed.
Memorial Contributions would be appreciated to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Michigan Chapter 2265 Livernois, Suite. 410 Troy, MI 48083. This foundation was very near and dear to Jim’s heart.
