James Charles Reagin (Jim) passed away on April 20th, 2020 at the age of 80.
Jim was born in Decatur, Georgia in 1939 to Allen H. and Alice (de Bluts) Reagin. He spent several years in the United States Air Force. During his active duty time in Nebraska, he met and married Barbara (Murphy) in 1960.
Together, they moved to California where he worked with the emerging Apollo space program. They moved from California to Michigan and Jim began working in the commercial construction industry.
He built their family home in the early 70’s and adopted their daughter, Susan in 1975. In the early 80’s Jim was diagnosed with a rare heart disease and this began a decades long struggle with cardiac issues.
Despite that, Jim loved to be as active as possible - salmon fishing in Oscoda, hunting in the UP and woodworking at home. He never knew a stranger, and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara, his son Michael (Saadiah) and his daughter Susan (TJ).
Services at Great Lakes Cemetery in Holly will be announced at a later date to allow for friends and family to gather and celebrate a life well lived.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
