PIEKNIK, James Richard, Sr. - Age 71, of Flushing, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the March of Dimes. James was born March 26, 1939 in Flint, the son of Frank and Christine (Chunend) Pieknik. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1956 until 1960. James owned and operated Diamond Security. He was a member of the American Legion. Surviving are: 3 children, Michelle Lake of Swartz Creek, James R. Pieknik, Jr. of Flushing and Karen and husband Charlie Bruton of Montrose; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jamie, Jared, Katie and Wendel; the mother of his children, Helen Scully of Flushing.
