PEMBERTON, James A. Â Age 81, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Steven Higley officiating. Interment will be held at Lovejoy Cemetery, Durand, MI. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Sunday and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Avalon Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Pemberton was born March 8, 1924 in Birmingham, AL, the son of Anderson and Elizabeth (Campbell) Pemberton. He married Marilyn Huff of Durand, MI, on February 6, 1954. Mr. Pemberton lived in the Flint area since 1952 and has resided in Swartz Creek since 1966. He attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Mr. Pemberton was co-owner and past CEO of Peerless Furniture Company. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the Swartz Creek Kiwanis Club, the Masonic Lodge, Elf Khurafeh Shrine, Scottish Rite, and the Knights of the Round Table. Surviving are: wife, Marilyn; son, James E. Pemberton and wife, Diane, all of Swartz Creek; three grandchildren, John, Charles and Jamie; great-grandson, Ethan.
