James Robert MYERS

MYERS, James Robert, age 94, of Flint, was welcomed home Thursday, April 15, 2010. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. with Pastor Andrew Arp officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to Carriage Town Ministries. Bob was born November 9, 1915 in Kennett, Missouri the son of the late James C. and Cora A. (White) Myers. He married Mary Etta Garrett on May 30, 1937 and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1999. Bob was employed by G.M. Fisher Body for over 25 years, retiring in 1972 as a general foreman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a faithful member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church for 52 years. Bob and Mary took pride in their early work as houseparents at Michigan School for the Deaf. For the last 8 years, Bob made his home at Genesee Gardens. Bob was also preceded in death by 5 sisters. Surviving are his daughters, Mary Ann Owens (Sam) of Flint, Sandra Bickel (Dave) of Flushing; grandchildren, Sally Hohn (Bill), James Owens (Lori), John Owens (Kim), Andrew Owens (Elena) Anne Metcalf (Brian), Ellen Shrable (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Grace, William, Anna, Claire, Sarah, Laura, Erik, Jacob, Max, Emma, Thomas, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Makenna; and many special nieces and nephews.
