Mitchell. James Laverne - Age 87, of Grand Blanc, died June 12, 2023. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, June 17 at Emmanuel Church Grand Blanc 2112 E. Maple Ave. Flint. Interment in Maple Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 11AM Saturday, June 17 until the time of the service. James was born September 13, 1935 in Corning, Arkansas, the son of James Sylvester and Sylvia (Lumpkins) Mitchell. He married Leora Bruno on April 13, 1973. James retired from General Motors. He loved his church and was a primary teacher for Sunday school for 61 years. James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leora; children, Brenda (Jack) Wagner of Swartz Creek, Debra (Greg) Tissue of West Branch, Gary Mitchell (Judy May) of Plainwell, Connie (Ron) Yurkus of Seminole, FL., Timothy (Casey) Mitchell of Hoover, Alabama, Cassey (Steve) Knapp of Birch Run, Joseph Mitchell of Burton; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Veryl) Mitchell, Dennis (Sherry) Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jimmy Landes and Henry Hubbard.
