MEAD, James A., age 88 of Flint passed away Sunday Feb. 14, 2010 two days short of his 89th birthday. He was born in Alliance, OH but lived most of his life in Flint. Jim was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, served in the South Pacific in WWII and awarded the Purple Heart for wounds in combat. After 37 years of service, Jim retired from Buick in 1977. He was married to Rosie Sujak for over 63 years and she preceded him in death in 2007. In retirement, Jim (and Rosie), spent the past 20 years wintering at their home in the FL Keys where he loved fishing. Jim found relaxation in organic gardening and prized his vegetables. His daughter Susan (Jerry) Myers of Flint, son Victor (Shirley) Mead of Maitland, Fl., 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, survive Jim. Our family would like to extend special thanks to the Med Team and entire staff at American House North for their care, kindness and professionalism. Memorial services will be held later at the Great Lakes National Cemetery. Per my parent's wishes, the remainder of their combined ashes will be strewn at sea in the FL Keys. The family requests contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
