James Neylon McCOY

McCOY, James Neylon "Neal", age 70, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at home. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Pastor Todd Syruws officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to World Impact Missions, c/o Ignite Flint Foursquare Church, 4510 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. Neal was born December 27, 1939 in Sercey, Arkansas the son of the late Clarence and Mary Catherine (Fowler) McCoy. He married Donna Lou Gorecki on July 30, 1960 in Flint. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in the reserves for 8 years. Neal was employed by General Motors, Chevrolet Metal Fab until retirement in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #342 and U.A.W. Local 659. He loved to read western novels and book swapped on a regular basis. In his earlier years, Neal loved to work on cars and drag raced stock cars also. He played baseball and softball on teams and belonged to a few bowling leagues. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Donna of Flint; 5 children, Kenneth McCoy, Robert McCoy, Kathleen Robinson (Robin) all of Flint, Connie Slavik (Levi) of Chesaning, Barbara Ferguson (David Powell) of Flushing 8 grandchildren, Heather, Shannon, Ryan (Rebecca), James, Travis, Tyler, Caleb, Summer; 3 great-grandsons, Drew, Clarke, Liam; brother, Leon McCoy (Mary Lou) of Buffalo, New York; sister-in-law, Michel (Gordon) Chambers of Flint; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
