James Lyons

LYONS, James J. - Age 92, of Flint, died Friday, May 13, 2016. Funeral services will be held 12PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Don Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of service Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Veterans Constructing Communities Foundation. James was born April 30, 1924 in Flushing, the son of the late Charles J. and Ernestine (Vogel) Lyons. He married Dawn Mary Stone on November 28, 1949 in Flint. James enjoyed woodworking, gardening and watching his favorite squirrel "Fatty." Mr. Lyons proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He retired from GM Fisher I plant with 31 years of service. Surviving are: wife, Dawn Mary Lyons of Flint; son, Jessie J. Lyons of Northville; loving daughters, Diane Lyons of Flushing, Candice (Alex Mulholland) Peterson of Flint; grandchildren, Michael Wint, Sabrina Lyons, Jeremy Lyons, Joshua Lyons, Jeff (Mistie) Lyons, Shannon (Kevin) Ahearn, Brandon (Nikki) Adams, David Peterson; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Betty) Lyons; sisters, Lulabell Newberry of WI, Dorothy Zarko of Fenton; sister-in-law, Nancy Randall of Flint; several nieces and nephews.
