ROBINSON, James Lynn - age 80, of Swartz Creek, died September 17, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at South Baptist Church, 4091 Van Slyke Rd, Flint, MI 48507 with Pastor Phillip Long of Grace Bible Fellowship of Swartz Creek officiating. Interment will be held at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Visitation will also be held from 11 AM - 1 PM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Carriage Town Ministries, 605 Garland St, Flint, MI 48503 (www.carriagetown.org). James was born April 29, 1940 in Flint, the son of Lynn and Virginia (Sanders) Robinson. He was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School and Central Michigan University. James married Sherri Lenzi on January 26, 1963 and she preceded him in death on March 24, 1997. He then married Phyllis Woodrich on June 9, 2000. James had been a teacher and coach at Ainsworth Schools but spent his career at Swartz Creek Community Schools as a teacher, coach, Vice Principal and Athletic Director. He was affectionately known in the Swartz Creek Community as Coach Robinson or Robbie. Jim was a baseball umpire, an official for both football and basketball, and a drivers training teacher. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and traveled to Florida Spring Training with his buddy, Dr. Bob Burek for over 20 years. Until his death, Jim continued to build friendships and held weekly bible studies at Woodhaven Senior Community, where he shared the love of Jesus Christ. Surviving are: wife, Phyllis of Swartz Creek; 4 children, Michael and wife Christina Robinson of South Carolina, Shelley and husband Mitch Carroll of Burton, Julie and husband Larry Santamour of Grand Blanc, Stephen and wife, Arayaphon Robinson of Flushing; step-son, Matthew Woodrich; 14 grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, Tyler, Maxwell, Emily, Mackenzie, Rory, Jourdan, Justen, Joshua, Jonathan, Jenessa, Jenelle, and Jayson; great-grandchild, J.R. as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; first wife, Sherri; two sisters, Patricia and Norma; step-daughter, Lisa. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
