James Vincent Lombardi

LOMBARDI, James Vincent - Age 94, of Fenton, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Road, Grosse Pointe Woods at 10:30 AM Friday, January 10, 2025. Msgr. Gary Smetanka, celebrant. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of Mass. James was born March 3, 1930 in Detroit, the son of William and Maria (Di Palma) Lombardi. He was a 1948 graduate of Detroit Eastern High School. He had resided in Fenton for the past 1 1/2 years coming from St. Clair Shores/Harper Woods. He married Sadie Irene Randazzo on June 2, 1951 in Detroit. James retired from the Detroit News as a typesetter. He had been a member of St. John's Deaf Center in Eastpointe. He also was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association, Michigan Deaf Bowlers Hall of Fame and was the former President of the Michigan Deaf Ski Association.

Surviving are his wife of 74 years, Sadie; children, Gary (Laurel) Lombardi of Grosse Pointe Woods, Raymond (Kim) Lombardi of Las Vegas, NV, Dana (Gary) Chandonais of St. Clair Shores and James (Stacey) Lombardi of Fenton; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maria Lombardi; grandson, Anthony Lombardi; and brother, Rev. Fr. Albert Lombardi. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
