LOGAN, James Sr. -- on Sunday February 24, 2019, at age 82, James surrounded by his loving wife Magnolia, sons James Jr, Jason and Jamael, peacefully made the transition on his terms in Flint, Michigan. No services will be held. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. James Logan Sr, affectionally known as "POKE", was born on April 14, 1936 in Crawfordville, Arkansas to the union of George Logan Sr and James Anna Boyce. James was the second oldest sliding of six brothers and sisters. George Logan Jr, Mary Branch, Charles Logan, Dorothy Logan and Earl Logan. James was educated in the Flint Public School System. As a sports enthusiast, James quickly became part of the Flint Northern High School's track team. The team set a variety of track and field records that remained unbeaten for decades, which lead to him and his 1953 Northern High School Track teammates to receive an induction into the Flint Sports Hall of Fame. James also served his country by joining the United States Army during the late fifties. James was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses in the Flint, Mi area during the late sixties and early seventies. In the early seventies, James met Magnolia Caldwell in Flint, Michigan. James and Magnolia later married and under the union had three boys James (Ayana) Logan Jr, Jason Logan and Jamael (Naana) Logan. James also was the proud father of a daughter Vanessa Walker from a previous relationship. James moved his family to Grand Blanc, Michigan in the late seventies and worked at General Motors for over thirty years providing for his family. James proudest accomplishment in life was being able to send all three of his sons to college where they all graduated with degrees and becoming a grandfather too two grandsons and two granddaughters. Alexis Walker, Jordan Logan, Avery Logan, Evan Logan. James was known for being a real funny guy, that loved good jazz music and was always willing to lend a hand to any family member or friends in need. James loved spending his spare time working on cars that he owned, playing the lottery, going to the horse track and local casinos in the area. The family would like to thank everyone who showed empathy through their calls, cards, visits and acts of kindness during our time of transition and bereavement. We are forever grateful for all that you have done. May God richly bless each and everyone of you. Per James' final wishes there will be no funeral service only a small gathering with immediate family only to include his children and grandchildren.
