LIGGETT, James Norman  Age 77, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., with Pastor James Lerche officiating. Interment will be held at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Liggett was born April 29, 1926 in Paragould, AR., the son of James Brian and Virgie Ann (Wright) Liggett. He married Ruth Hazel in 1951 and they resided in Flint most of their life. Mr. Liggett was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was in Skilled Trades at General Motors Truck and Bus, retiring in 1985. Surviving are: wife, Ruth of Swartz Creek; six children, Lorraine Irish of Mt. Morris, Laura and husband, Robert Leff of Swartz Creek, Rebecca Dessinger of Haines City, FL, Cathy Dessinger and friend, Mark Deesinger of Swartz Creek, Donna Gebhart of Flint, James Liggett II and wife, Therese of Burton; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
