KIRKLAND, James E. - Age 62, retired engineer, died Friday, September 30, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Entombment will follow in Tyrone Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held 6-8:30 PM Sunday, 1-4 & 6-8:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Michigan Humane Society or Genesys Hospice. James was born September 11, 1943 in Flint, the son of Edward James and Doris Eileen (Washburn) Kirkland. He was married to Barbara Peters on September 25, 1964 in Flint; she preceded him in death on February 22, 2002. Mr. Kirkland retired from General Motors after 34 years of service. Surviving are: children, Kimberly and husband Charles LaClear of Holly, Scott Kirkland and fiancâ?s Tammy Lord of Fenton. He was the proud 'Pop Pop' of Tatum and Avary LaClear, Grandpa of Megan and Christa Roberts; Also surviving are: brother, Bruce Kirkland; mother-in-law, Grace Peters of Millington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beverly and Louis D'Itri, Charles and Barbara Peters all of Millington, Diana Brady of Flushing, Gary and Geri Peters, Donna and Gary Duranseau, Jeanette and Daniel Smith all of Millington; many nieces and nephews; many special friends including, John and Wendy Norris; and his 'best dog', Morgan.
