James "Jim" Edward Foster

FOSTER, James "Jim" Edward, age 80 of Holly, formerly of Flint, passed away peacefully, with his wife and family by his side, on July 2, 2023.  A funeral, with Military Honors, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the Disabled American Veterans (www.help.dav.org) or Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org).

James was born on January 31, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Billie Arthur and Dorothy Mae (Bottrell) Foster.  He graduated from St. John Vianney Catholic School before serving our country for four years with the United States Navy and then dedicating 20 years with the Federal Reservists ascending to the rank of Command Sergeant Major.  Jim worked 30 years for General Motors with both Buick Motor Division in Flint and Steering Gear in Saginaw.  Jim, and his wife, Mary, lived in Au Gres for 10 years and during that time they enjoyed boating on the Great Lakes together.  He was an avid hunter, craftsman and he was a "history buff" who admired visiting historical sites.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years. Mary.  Children, Dee Dee (Dale) Holland of Flint; Jon David of Grand Blanc; and Dan (Janine) David of Hatfield, PA.  Grandchildren, Corey Holland; Jay (Nichole) Holland; Matthew (Trish) Holland; Melissa (Dustin) Sauvaqeau; and Sydney (Lilly Arbour) David.  Also surviving are 11 Great-Grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many extended family members.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Debbie Foster.
