James Clarence HERD

HERD, James Clarence -- Age 74, of Flint, died January 23, 2011 at Brians House Hospice, Davison. A Masonic Service will be held 7 PM Wednesday, January 26 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Shriners. James was born June 26, 1936 in Detroit, the son of William Alexander and Elsie (Faunt) Herd. He married JoAnn Pauley July 22, 1955 in Hamilton, Georgia. James retired from Buick Engine Plant 36 with many years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 475 F. & A.M., the Shriners, Elf-Khurafeh, and The Clown unit. He was also a member of AMVETS of Swartz Creek, Eagles of Durand, American Legion, and Swartz Creek VFW. Surviving are: wife, JoAnn; sons, Dale (Teresa) Herd of Clayton Township, Brian Herd of Swartz Creek; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Mike) Seminition of Mt. Clemens.
