James P. Heffner

HEFFNER, James Phillip - age 91, of Linden, formerly of Fenton for 45 years, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Jack McMaster officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Sunday and 1-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Avalon Hospice or the Salvation Army. Mr. Heffner was born August 7, 1917 in Flint. He was a 1936 graduate of Fenton High School and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Mary J. James on February 17, 1941. Surviving are: wife, Mary; three children, James P. Heffner and wife, Shirley of Fenton; Carol Vassler of Linden, Gerald S. Heffner and wife, Jeannie of Fenton; five grandchildren, Gerald S. Heffner of Grand Blanc, James P. Heffner of Fenton, Christin Trzcinski of Grand Blanc, Matthew Heffner of Fenton, Jasen Heffner of Flint; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Aidan and Ella Jo.
