James Harrington

James J. Harrington, age 84, of Flint, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, starting at 10AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11AM at SHARP FUNERAL HOME, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. James was born on January 17, 1939, in Flint, Michigan to the late Russell & Evelyne Harrington. He graduated in 1956 from All Saints Catholic High School and continued his education at Northern University where he earned his bachelor's degree. James proudly served his county in the United States Army. He married the love of his life Mary and together they raised 5 wonderful daughters and shared 56 years of marriage. James retired from Mt. Morris Township as a tax assessor. He was extremely talented in the "numbers" department. James was a jokester, life of the party trivia loving guy. He was also a talented artist in both painting and drawing. James always stayed active and enjoyed golf, tennis, racquet ball and swimming. James and Mary worked very diligently in their yard and vegetable gardens, and they enjoyed the fruits of their labors by having corn eating contests. James would even wear his golf cleats when mowing to aerate the lawn. They also spent many years camping with their motor home and spending the winter months traveling.

James is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his five daughters, Mary Jane French, Jean Culbertson, Jamie Hunt, Jackie (Steven) Wellisley and Jennifer Harrington; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his two sisters, Mary McAllister and Helen Harrington. He is further survived by many other dear family members and friends.
