HALKA, James Edward - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, March 21 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Mr. Roger Bulley officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Monday, 1-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army. Mr. Halka was born May 23, 1928 in Flint, the son of John and Josephine (Yelinek) Halka. He had been a resident of Swartz Creek most of his life, graduating from Swartz Creek High School in 1946. Mr. Halka was a veteran of the US Army. He married Darlene Carol Collins on January 3, 1962 in Grand Blanc. Mr. Halka was a Master Plumber, and co-owner/operator of LJ&J Plumbing and Heating. He then went to work for G.M. Buick as a pipefitter retiring in 1998. Surviving are his wife, Darlene Halka of Swartz Creek; daughter, Karen and husband James Feger of Ypsilanti; son, Alan Halka and wife Anitha of Lake Worth, FL; granddaughter, Lily Feger of Ypsilanti; grandson, Raj Halka of Lake Worth, FL; 2 sisters, Marion Horak of Niles, Mildred Brian of Texas; brother, Donald and wife Ella Mae Halka of Swartz Creek; many nieces and nephews.
