James Gilliland

GILLILAND, James Arthur - Age 82, of Holly, died Monday, September 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Rich William officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 3-9 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Heritage Baptist Church. Jim was born February 7, 1934 in Flint, the son of Philip Samuel and Marie Genova (Shepard) Gilliland. He was a 1952 graduate of Linden High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Jim married Luella Mae Ellsworth July 2, 1955 in Flint. He retired in 1992 from GM Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant after 30 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Heritage Baptist Church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dawn Spring. Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Luella; 4 children, James (Linda) Gilliland, Jr. of Fenton, Vicki Saucier of Holly, Jeff Gilliland of Holly, and Randy (Cindy) Gilliland of Fenton; 6 grandchildren, Holly (Jeff) Watt, Mark (Stephanie) Pittenger, Jamie (Todd) Clark, Jeffrey (Sara) Harp, Ryan Saucier, and Eric Saucier; 8 great grandchildren, Jasmine, Jacob, Cameron, Makenzie, Payton, Chase, Jordan, and Hannah. brothers, Ron (Barb) Gilliland of Flint, Arnie (Karen) Gilliland of Linden, and Kevin Gilliland of White Lake; sisters, Renee Landers of Holly and Shelley Baker of Bancroft; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Phyllis Selby and Joyce Harper; and brothers, Fred, Bobby, and Reggie Gilliland.
