James Michael FARNER

FARNER, James Michael - Age 57, of Mt. Vernon, OH formerly of Fenton, died Thursday, August 9, 2012. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 5-9 PM and Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the James M. Farner Memorial Fund. James was born January 4, 1955 in Flint, the son of Laurence F., Jr. and Alice M. (Moorman) Farner. He was a 1973 graduate of Fenton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. James married Dianalee Walters December 4, 1982 and she preceded him in death December 19, 2010. He had been employed by Tri-State Expedited Service and was formerly a prison guard for the State of Michigan and a bus driver for Holly Community Schools. He was a retired member of the Fenton City Fire Department. Surviving are: son, Shaun and wife Miriam Farner of Mt. Veronon, OH; grandson, Thomas Michael Farner; step daughter, Sabrina of Belleville; step son, David of Florida; sisters, Becky Farner and Laurie Rice both of Fenton; brother, Dave and wife Marcia Farner of Boyne City; several nieces and nephews and faithful companion, his dog, Kira.
