James Davidson

DAVIDSON, James L. "Jim" - age 77, passed away at his home in Swartz Creek on March 29, 2015. Services will be held 1 PM Friday, April 3 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly. Family and friends to gather 15 minutes prior to service at the cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Jim was born in Clarkton, Missouri, on January 13, 1938 the son of Quinton and Opal (Shelton) Davidson. He attended Milford High School and was President of his senior class. He was also selected to be a member of their first Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. He was a student at Eastern Michigan University where he was President of his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and also the Inter Fraternity Council. He earned his Master's Degree from Michigan State University. He was Cadet Colonel of the ROTC program. he spent two years at Fort Ord, California as a commissioned officer. Jim taught three years at Clarkston High School and two years at Flint Central. He was Principal at Longfellow Middle School for 20 years and was Camp Director at Mott Camp for many years. Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years, Judi, along with two children, Philip Davidson of Burton, and Lesle (Doug) Chapman of Swartz Creek. Also a part of his family are four step-children, Stephen (Karen) Beckner of Kalamazoo, Molly (Mark) Malone-Pavwoski of Swartz Creek, Wendy Davis of Indianapolis, IN, Melissa (Sal) Ventura of St. Charles, MO. He also has three wonderful grandchildren, Philip Davidson, Callie Davidson and Michael Chapman; seven step-grandchildren, AJ Beckner, Stephanie Beckner, Jenna Davis, Megan Malone, Brooke Malone, Brittany Malone and Joel Ventura; sister Sue (Tom) Grisham of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sue; brother, Ken. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
