CUNNINGHAM, James Douglas, "Jim" age 64, of Grand Blanc, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Jim was born December 13, 1945 in Flint the son of the late Charles Albert and Louise (Koryciak) Cunningham. He was a 1964 graduate of Lake Fenton High School where he was an excellent football and baseball player. Jim was employed by General Motors Metal Fab as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He married Helen Stevens on March 20, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim was an intelligent man with many interests. He collected and preserved Agate rocks, often from Grand Marais, MI; he was a fly fisherman, bowler, golfer and an excellent cook; a computer whiz who was very creative electronically and collected enough gadgets to fill a garage. Jim was a proud member of the NRA who actively voiced his conservative political viewpoint. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge, Fenton, and U.A.W. Local 598, Flint. Surviving are his wife, Helen; 3 children, Christopher Cunningham of Davison, Kelly Cunningham (Kelly) of Owosso, Keri Chestnut (Stephen) of Fenton; 6 grandchildren, Christina, Tiphanie, Lucas and Evan Cunningham, Cameron and Karsen Bentz; great-grandchild, Jayden Kerr; 2 step-children, Jason Leece (Bianca) of Fenton, Jeffrey Leece of Arizona; sister, Diane Sommers of Arizona; brother, David Cunningham of Wyoming; mother-in-law, Joy Stevens of Arizona. He was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Spencer Cunningham; brother, Charles Cunningham and previous wife, Nancy Cunningham.
