James Burns

BURNS, James D.- Age 90, of Flint Township died April 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, April 11 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, 12-1 PM Monday. Committal services at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project. James was born August 31, 1925, in Flint, the son of Clinton and Doris (McCain) Burns. He was a Veteran of the Army serving in World War II. He married Lucille Hill on January 19, 1946 in Flint. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2003. He co-owned and operated with his brother William Burns Well Drilling and retired in 1981. He was a member of the Swartz Creek VFW. He is survived by his son, Danny (Nancy) of Burton; granddaughter, Sandy (Tom) Labeau; grandson, James Burns; great-grand-children, Victoria, Bruce; sisters, Audrey Irish of Troy and Margie Gehring of Colorado; brother, William (Mary Ann) of Corunna. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille; sisters, Illah Irish and Ada Garner. The family extends a special thank you to his caregivers, Barb McCarius and Diana Griffiths.
