James R. BURKE

BURKE, James R., age 74 of Fenton, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Crestmont Nursing Home. He was born Cleveland, Ohio where he lived for many years. In 1957, he married Caroline L. Hunter in Parma, Ohio. He came to Michigan in 1972 and to Fenton in 1990. Mr. Burke was a test crash engineer at the G.M. Proving Grounds in Milford for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He attended the Cooper College, School of Art, was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves for 8 years. Mr. Burke was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Highland, MI. Surviving are his wife: Caroline, daughter, Kelly (William) Stiles, Sons; Shane Burke and Steven (Mignon) Burke. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Amanda(Ben)Taylor, Sarah Stiles and Sean and Dru Burke. Also surviving are a sister, Joan (Bernard) Janas and brother, Christopher Burke. There are several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 31, 2009 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 3700 Harvey Lake Rd. in Highland Rev. Fr. Lauren O'Dey officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sharp Funeral Home, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. in Fenton. A prayer service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to a college fund for the grandchildren.
