BOEDECKER, James George - Age 83, of Flint Township, died Sunday, January 2, 2022. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, January 7, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on James obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor JJ Mannschreck officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. James was born December 8, 1938 in Flint, the son of Ross and Jewell (LaFever) Boedecker. He was a 1958 graduate of Utley High School. He served in the Michigan National Guard. He married Sheila Rose Jones July 13, 1959 in Flint. James retired in 1994 from GM Chevrolet Truck and Bus after 30 plus years of service. He then was the head of maintenance and driver for Schlotzkey's Deli. He attended of Flushing United Methodist Church and was a member of U.A.W. Local 598. Throughout his life James enjoyed many activities. He was an avid cyclist, going on the annual Assenmacher and P.A.L.M. bike rides with his friends and could often be seen riding around in his recumbent bicycle. He loved traveling, camping, and enjoyed summers at Leisure Lake with his family and friends. He was an early riser and a daily patron at Tim Horton's on Linden Road where he would get coffee with friends at the crack of dawn.
Surviving are: his wife of 62 years, Sheila; Randall Boedecker (Connie Holmes) of Flushing; daughter, Kimberly Wright (John Wright) of Flushing; Megan Melvin (Michael Ledford) of Kettering, OH, Zachary Boedecker (Helen Medina) of San Francisco, CA, Alex Litten of Huntington Beach, CA, Benjamin Wright of Flushing, and Jacob Wright of Flushing; great granddaughter, Amberlee Melvin; siblings, Gary Boedecker (Bonnie) of Flint, Shirley West (Elywin) of Lake City, Henry Boedecker (Lali) of Mt. Morris, Sharon Cox (Russell) of Oakley; sister-in-law, Wilma Jones of Frankenmuth; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Litten; parents; in laws, Ray and Ella Jones; sister, Ramona Vanderwalker; and brother, Ray Boedecker. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
