James Austin

AUSTIN, James D. - 89, of Port Orange, FL, died Thursday, December 24, 2015. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Austin was born January 31, 1926 in Flint, the son of Murtan L. and Mildred (Ritchie) Austin and was a veteran of the USMC serving in WW II. He married Wilda Mae Hoss on June 18, 1948 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on April 25, 1996. After his military service James graduated from GMI and retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die maker. He loved golf and fishing. Surviving are: 3 children, Gloria L. Honeywell of Port Orange, Dr. David J. and wife Kim Austin of Dimondale, MI, Julie A. Austin of Port Orange; 5 grandchildren, Jacclyn, Phillip, Jay, Michael and Jeff; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Parker.
