OPDYKE, J. Wayland -- Age 83, of Flint died Friday, July 17, 2015. Committal services will take place at 10AM Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly. Pastor Dave Hintz officiating. Funeral arrangements are provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Contributions may be made to A Hero's Legacy. J. Wayland was born November 3, 1931 the son of Minott Sylvester and Edna Helen Marie (Schreitzer) Opdyke in Flint. He is a graduate of Grand Blanc High School and Ferris State University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a pharmacists having worked for several years at pharmacies in the Flint area. Survived by: Sister-in-law, Regina and her family of New York, as well as longtime friends Dennis and Teri Johnson of Flint Twp. Preceded in death by: parents, and brother Keith.
