Ivan Tibbits

TIBBITS, Ivan D. - age 88, of Flint Twp., died February 20, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Ivan was born February 15, 1934 in Swartz Creek, the son of Ivy John and Martha L. (Vincent) Tibbits. He graduated from Swartz Creek (Mary Crapo) High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ivan married Virginia L. Flewelling on September 26, 1959. He retired from General Motors in 1989 after 35 years of service. He was a true jack of all trades and had worked in carpentry in the area for over 50 years. Ivan loved snowmobiling, camping, hunting and especially spending time with family. He never met a stranger and if you asked him directions, he would tell you ten different ways to get there.  Surviving are: wife of 65 years, Virginia; four children, Terry Brabbs, Nancy Wildey, Pam (Jerry) Cranston, and Allen (Paula) Tibbits; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special thank you to Amber Kelly. He was preceded in death by: four brothers, William, Charles, Floyd and Martin Tibbits; son-in-law, James Brabbs; grandson, Patrick Brabbs; and great-grand babies, Andrew and Leah.
