Irwin Klenk

KLENK, Irwin R.- Age 81, of Gaines, died Friday August 7, 2020. Private family services will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Steve Rau officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Gaines. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Irwin was born September 24, 1938 in Standish, Michigan, the son of Oscar and Margaret (LeClair) Klenk. He married Charlene Currie in Standish on November 23, 1957 and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2003. Irwin retired from General Motors SPO in 1992 with 34 years of service. He enjoyed going to the casinos and spending time with his family. Irwin was a diehard U of M and Detroit Tigers Fan and attended many Detroit Tigers spring training games in Lakeland FL with his brothers. Surviving are: daughter, Pam (Tom) Cavanaugh of Gladwin, son, Michael Klenk of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Kelly (Dave) Kyllonen, Christy (Darren) Wascher, Kurt Cavanaugh and Jason Klenk. He is also survived by his many great grandchildren , great great grandson; brothers, Richard (Judy) Klenk of Mecosta, Robert (JoJo) Klenk of Bay City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Margaret Klenk; wife, Charlene and brothers, Ray Oscar and Edwin Klenk. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oaks of Grand Blanc and Mid Michigan Hospice for their care and devotion to Irwin.
