Irene Marie Worges

WORGES - Irene Marie, age 89 and lifetime resident of Flint, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan (The service will also be live streamed and will be accessible via the link at the base Mrs. Worges's obituary at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the funeral home and Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irene to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).

Irene was born on August 10, 1934 to the late Charles Henry and Erma Alice (Walker) Sinn and went on to complete her high school education followed by courses at Baker College. She married Dean Gordon Worges on March 30, 1953 in Allen County, Indiana and Dean preceded Irene in death on September 22, 1992. Irene was always "on the go", never stopping and was known as a hard worker. She dearly loved her family and particularly enjoyed her family reunions in Lansing. She was a natural host, having worked in the banquet industry for years, and she excelled at cooking, baking and entertaining. Irene liked to travel and had visited Europe with her sisters and frequently visited California to visit family.

She is survived by her son, Karl (Tracey) Worges of Grand Blanc. Grandchildren, Jennifer Worges of Seattle, WA; Amy (Michael) Worges-Arrieta of Holt; Matthew Worges of New Orleans, LA; and Kari (Anthony) Urbina of East Lansing. Great-grandchildren, Jonas Arrieta, Veda Arrieta and Oscar Urbina. Daughter-in-law, Lori Worges of Fort Myers, FL. Irene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Yale Scott Worges; and all eight of her siblings.
