Irene Ruth SIMMS

SIMMS, Irene Ruth - Age 79, of Swartz Creek, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Rev. G. Patrick England officiating. Burial in Plainfield Township Cemetery, Hale. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Simms was born October 4, 1929 in Flint, the daughter of George and Sarah (Ziegler) Martin. She married Harold J. Simms August 21, 1954 in Flint and he preceded her in death October 7, 1995. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxilliary in Hale and the Shiawassee County Quilters Guild. Surviving are: 6 children, Rodney and wife Elaine Simms of Canton, GA, Russell and wife Debbie Simms of Orion Township, Yvonne Simms of Madison, AL, Cheryl Simms of Saginaw, Craig and wife Cheryl Simms of North Carolina, Dr. Janet Simms and husband Tony Lobred of Vicksburg, MS; 8 grandchildren, Amy Simms, Emily (Will) Horlock, Justin Simms, Jeffrey Simms, Tiffany White, Derek White, Evan Simms, Benjamin Lobred; 4 great grandchildren, Louis and Jacob Cvetnic and Katie and Sarah Horlock; Brother, Roy Martin of Mt. Morris; sister, Juanita Cotie of Phoenix, AR; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers and sisters.
