MERCHANT, Irene Vivian - Age 92, of Fenton formerly of Cass City, died Monday, April 18, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Rev. Jerald Beil officiating. Burial immediately following in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Argentine Care Center in Linden, MI. Mrs. Merchant was born June 14, 1918 in Gladstone, Michigan the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Clemens) Smith. She married Hugh John Merchant June 30, 1934 in Lincoln Park and he preceded her in death February 6, 2000. Irene had resided in Fenton since 1980 coming from Cass City. Surviving are: 2 sons, Hugh and wife Sue Merchant of Fenton and Garey and wife Karen Merchant of Southgate; 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
