Irene Markby

MARKBY, Irene Grace - Age 91, of Lake Fenton, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, November 8, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Rev. Dr. W. Ten Roberts officiating. Committal services will be at 2:30 PM Saturday at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 4:30 - 8 PM Friday, and 9 AM until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Lake Fenton Community Schools Foundation or Residential Hospice. Irene was born August 5, 1923 in Pontiac, the daughter of Grover and Frances (Langley) Creger. She grew up in Birch Run. She married Robert C. Markby on May 1, 1943, they were married for 50 years. He preceded her in death in October 1993. They had lived on Lake Fenton since 1945. She worked at AC Spark Plug, then Lake Fenton Schools for 25 years, retiring in June of 1981. She was a member of Forget-Me-Nots of the Fenton State Bank, CCC, UAW # 598, Order of the Eastern Star of Grand Blanc. She traveled with the State Bank Forget-Me-Nots and the Grand Blanc Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, doing puzzles and visiting with her family. Irene is survived by her children, Ronald R. (Laura) Markby of AZ., Sharon K. (Stan) Patocki of Rochester Hills, Patricia (Earle) Schultz of Fenton; grandchildren, Jamie Markby Herman, Steven (Kelly) Ragan, Charles Ragan, Nathan (Anne) Schultz, Earle "E.J" (Stacey) Schultz; step-grandchildren, Kendra Patocki, Stacey (Ryan) Liskiewicz; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Easton, Zeke, Lilah Irene, Ella, Matthew; step-great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Emily, Sydney; sister, Marie Creger of Frankenmuth; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Iva VanEvery, Rose Mary Goodlander; brothers, Wally, Grover, Carl and L.G. Creger; sister-in-law Naomi Snyder of Ontario.
