JOHNSON, Irene A. - Age 98, of Gaines Township, died June 12, 2015. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday June 15, 2015 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with a 7 PM Scripture service. Visitation will be 10-11 AM at the church on Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Irene was born August 14, 1916 in Flint, the daughter of Thomas and Blanche (Wichtowski) Small. She was married to Harold O. Johnson on September 7, 1935; he preceded her in death September 14, 1993. Irene work for and retired from AC Spark Plug and she loved golfing and swimming. Surviving are: two children, Edward Johnson of Durand, Dawn (William) Hawkins of Gaines Township; grandchildren Cynthia Goward, Steven Hawkins, Theresa Mays, Brian Hawkins, Lisa Stehling, Mark Hawkins; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Goyette. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Kenneth Johnson; grandson Omer Johnson; great-grandson John Goward; and sister Margaret Booth.
