Ione L. Rolfe

ROLFE, Ione L. (Sharpe)- Age 66, of Swartz Creek, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, November 5 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor J.D. Landis officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. The family will be receiving visitors from 6-9 PM Friday, 2-4 and 6-9 PM Saturday, and 1 PM until the time of the funeral Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or McLaren Hospice. Ione was born April 28, 1940 in Flint, MI to Claude and Dorothy Sharpe. She worked as a secretary at the Flint Public Library for 11 years. Ione married Dalton Rolfe on June 28, 1969 and devoted herself to her family, whom she loved deeply. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her sons and her niece, often sacrificing without question for their benefit. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, who brought a special joy into her life. Ione enjoyed camping, square dancing, and making crafts with family and friends. She was a member of Family Campers and RVers, where she served as a District Director, and was a member of the Tails-A-Wagon (Chapter 1) camping club. She was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Dalton; her sons, Eric, and Ryan (Lillian) Rolfe, her granddaughter, Cecily Rolfe; and her grandson, Emmett Rolfe; her sister, Judell (Gordon) Payne; and her niece Melinda Paydon. She is preceded in death by her son, Brent, who was born premature, and her parents. Ione will be sorely missed by all who love her.
