Ila Jean Cline

Ila Jean Cline, age 91, formerly of Montrose, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024. A memorial service to honor her life will be scheduled for a later date. Born on May 31, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, Ila was the daughter of James Bruce and Ellen A. (Johnson) Persons. A proud graduate of Chesaning High School, she spent the majority of her life in Montrose. On October 2, 1952, Ila married Fred D. Cline, Jr. in Angola, Indiana, forging a partnership that would last a lifetime. Ila was dedicated to her community as a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her devotion to family was evident in her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Fred D. Cline, Jr.; five children, Debra Jane (Paul) Wickstrom, Bruce Frederick Cline, Denise (Craig) Destrampe, Dawn (John) Varcally, and Daurice Jones; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought joy to her life. Ila was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ellen Persons; her in-laws, Fred D. Cline, Sr. and Caroline Cline; and her siblings, Dennis Persons, Ida Jane Kinsey, and James Bruce Persons, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Myra Hobson.
