SALERNO, Ignazio J. 'Chuck' - age 78, of Linden, died Friday, October 20, 2006 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, October 23, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. David W. Harvey celebrant. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. A scripture service will be held 7 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Salerno was born July 26, 1928 in Flint, the son of Anthony and Frances (Reno) Salerno. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Salerno married Mary Gandolfo on October 22, 1955 in Dearborn. He retired from General Motors Truck & Bus - Metal Fab in 1994 after 33 years of service and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Surviving are: wife, Mary of Linden; two sons, Charles M. (Patricia) Salerno of Fenton, Michael S. Salerno of TN; two daughters, Frances M. (John) Elliott of Linden, Mary C. Kolanowski of Holly; four grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Erica, and Ethan; three sisters, Annette Scaffidi, Mary (Gene) Lyons, Anita (Albert) Patella; brother, Vito Salerno.
