Petty, Hoyt Everett - Age 87, of Flint, died Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Burial following at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 30th and 10 to 11 am Thursday, March 31st. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Hoyt Everett was born March 1, 1935 in Black Oak, Arkansas, the son of John Everett and Arah Mae Mangrum. After moving to Michigan, Hoyt met and married Sue Ann Longendyke on January 19, 1957 and was drafted into the army shortly after. Upon his return from active duty, Sue and Hoyt continued to reside in Michigan the remainder of their lives. Hoyt founded Michigan Fence Company with his brother, Tom (Dave), and continued to run it until retirement. In his spare-time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing, golf and as well as being an accomplished pilot.
Surviving are brothers James Elmo Petty of Burton, Thomas David and Sarah Petty of Flint, sister Patricia and Randy Wallace of Flint, sister-in-law Ada Petty of Arkansas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue Ann Petty; his parents; brothers Paul Dewayne and Jerry Dean Petty; sisters Betty Krause and Martha Vorhees; sister-in-law, June Petty; brother-in-law Herbert Krause.
